Impact Summary
- Delivered a 42% reduction in the engineering workforce from digitisation and
optimised human resource reallocation. - Attained a 21% operational cost savings through workforce optimisation
through reallocation. - 94.6% of breakdowns within client SLA with facility management partner
The Challenge
A trusted global innovator of IT and business services across 50+ countries, partnered with Ecolibrium through its facility management company to implement innovative solutions in predictive analytics and energy accounting. The client aim was to digitise and optimise engineering services for building maintenance to enhance workforce efficiency in 11 of their offices across India.
The Solution
The facility management company chose Ecolibrium as their partner in order to implement the Ai powered platform SmartSense, which has versatile asset-level applicability in order to support workforce optimisation. It was used to guide the client through a transition from reactive and manual maintenance schedule to a proactive model.
All 11 offices were surveyed in detail followed by the implementation of SmartSense, which started with a digitisation phase. The deployment seamlessly integrated with 621 energy meters in the client’s distribution network. Monitoring critical equipment, including 5 chillers with cooling towers and pumps, 10 transformers, and UPS units across all 11 sites. As the data started to flow in, SmartSense leveraged its AI/ML algorithms to provide actionable insights for asset maintenance and temperature monitoring.
Recognising an opportunity for workforce optimisation, the Ecolibrium engineering and product teams introduced a digital logbook solution, automating data capture aligned with the client’s audit requirements, eliminating manual errors. This strategic shift reduced human dependency, greatly increased efficiency and generated accurate reports every two hours, amplifying workforce productivity and enabling data-driven decision-making.
SmartSense provided insights into low temperatures in critical server rooms and UPS equipment health, such as low power factor (PF). Predictive analytics empowered the client to deploy expert personnel on a need basis only and prioritise activities from real-time alerts, freeing skilled labour for other, more value-added tasks. This transition to on-demand maintenance reduced person hours and maintenance costs while improving equipment uptime significantly. SmartSense was able to uncover critical factors beyond a single equipment type and identify transformer inefficiency by assessing various equipment performances, initiating a cycle of continuous improvement and engagement with the client
The Outcomes
- Within a year of deployment, the Ecolibrium team recommended a 42% reduction in the engineering workforce, enabling efficient reallocation of human resources. The insights and recommendations also helped the client save 21% in operational costs and attained 94.6% of breakdowns within their SLA agreement. The centralised dashboard, automation, and real-time tracking boosted operational agility, providing data-driven insights for swift issue resolution.
- Ecolibrium’s AI powered platform SmartSense capabilities supported the real-time data driven decision-making process to generate alerts when required and supporting a tailored approach to dynamic human resource allocation for the client offices.
